A fire in the Deer Canyon area has prompted a mandatory evacuation order for residents on Jumano Trail and north of there. All other residents in Deer Canyon are being advised to remain on ready status and be prepared to evacuate at a moment’s notice if conditions change. Authorities are urging residents to stay alert, follow directions from emergency personnel, and monitor official updates. As of Saturday night, the fire has burned 350 acres with 0% containment. Officials say the flames are exhibiting extreme behavior, actively crowning in piñon-juniper and grass fuels. Crews are providing point protection, and air resources are on scene to support firefighting efforts.The fire is burning in grass and piñon-juniper fuels, and its cause is under investigation.
