‘Dukes’ Star John Schneider Fires Back at Ex-Wife in Court

Date:

Former The Dukes of Hazzard star John Schneider is disputing his ex-wife’s legal claim that he owes her millions in unpaid spousal support.

TMZ reports that the 66-year-old actor, singer and media personality has filed a legal response to the filing his second ex-wife Elvira made in March.

Why Is John Schneider’s Ex-Wife Taking Him to Court?

In court documents TMZ obtained, Elvira Schneider alleged that the actor owes her $2,382,548 in unpaid spousal support going back years, including an estimated $984,000 in interest that’s accrued on the allegedly unpaid principal.

Her court filing proposed a workaround if Schneider was unable to pay her back in a lump sum, asking the court to award her portions of Schneider’s Screen Actors Guild pension and his Social Security.

What Is John Schneider’s Response to His Ex-Wife’s Legal Filing?

According to TMZ, Schneider’s legal response alleges his former wife made errors in her calculations of the amount owed, and also failed to provide any evidence to support her claim that that’s the amount he should pay.

He’s asking a judge to throw out her filing.

How Long Were John Schneider and Elvira Schneider Married?

Schneider married Elvira Castle in 1993.

She filed for divorce in 2014, and the former couple finalized their divorce in 2019.

They have tangled legally over money previously.

In 2018, Schneider was sentenced to three days in jail for failing to pay Elvira alimony. He claimed he was unable to pay at the time due to his movie studio in Louisiana getting destroyed by floods in 2016.

Schneider ultimately served less than one day due to overcrowding.

He married Alicia Allain in 2019, and the couple remained married until her death from breast cancer in 2023.

In 2024, Schneider wed Dee Dee Sorvino, the late actor Paul Sorvino’s widow.
