The city of Albuquerque is helping residents stay cool and safe as temperatures climb. Operation Cool Down ensures residents have access to places to cool off and get help when temperatures become dangerous. These locations include libraries, senior centers, and community centers. City pools and splash pads are also open, with pool fees ranging from $1 for toddlers to $3 for adults. For individuals experiencing homelessness, the Gateway shelters are offering safe indoor spaces along with meals. The city is encouraging everyone to limit time spent outside, drink plenty of water, and check on neighbors, especially older adults, during the heat.The city is also turning on sprinklers at select parks, giving families a fun way to cool off.Here are the parks where sprinklers will be turned on Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.:Academy Hills Park – 9709 Layton Ave. NESeville Park – 6200 Burgos Ave. NWJack and Jill Park – 433 Arizona St. SESierra Sunset Park – 10600 Big Springs Rd. SWVillella Park – 6910 Cherokee Rd.
