Riley Green is trying to clear the air after fans became convinced one of his unreleased songs was aimed directly at Megan Moroney.
The country singer addressed growing speculation surrounding his song “POS Like Me,” which many listeners believed was connected to Moroney’s track “Who Hurt You?” after the timing of his teaser raised eyebrows online.

Green spoke about the rumors in a new Billboard digital cover story, insisting the song had nothing to do with Moroney.

“What I was doing was I was playing this song that I’d written, you know, for my fans,” Green explained. “And I wrote ‘POS’ like six months before that.”
Speculation exploded after Green teased the unreleased song on social media the same day Moroney dropped her album, Cloud 9.

“It just happened to be that day I was at home and I was wanting to post a song,” he added. “And it got talked about a lot.”
Why Fans Connected the Songs
Fans quickly started connecting dots because both songs include lyrics about heartbreak, betrayal, and messy relationship drama.
In “POS Like Me,” Green sings: “You can drag every letter of my name / On a chain through the Mississippi mud…”
The track also includes lines like: “You can blame it all on me / Even say I’m an SOB, hell I might be.”
Meanwhile, Moroney’s “Who Hurt You?” sparked its own wave of speculation earlier this year thanks to lyrics many fans believed pointed toward Green.
The Lyrics That Raised Eyebrows
Moroney references Alabama in the song — Green’s home state — while also singing about a man who may have been less than faithful.
“The devil went down to Georgia / Then he crossed the ‘Bama line,” she sings.
Another lyric that fueled internet chatter reads: “You said you needed less flashy, more fun / Oh, of course she’s twenty-one.”

At the time, social media users speculated the song could be inspired by Green, especially after rumors linked the pair romantically earlier this year.
Riley Green’s Relationship Rumors Keep Following Him
Green and Moroney have faced dating rumors multiple times, including speculation that the two vacationed together in early 2025.
By March, however, Green publicly stated he was single. Before that, fans frequently linked him to Ella Langley following their successful duet collaborations.
Still, despite all the online theories, Green insists fans are reading too much into “POS Like Me.”
