Riley Green Shares the Two Reasons He Got Hired for ‘The Voice’

Date:

Riley Green could quite possibly be one of the busiest people in country music right now.

In an interview with Country Countdown USA, Green says, “I’ve taken on a lot of new ventures. I wasn’t hurting for things to do already. But it’s been a lot of fun. I got a taste of it with (an acting role on) Marshals. I thought I was busy before that.”

Green’s next venture begins in September, as he will be a coach on Season 30 of The Voice.

How Did Riley Green Land His Job on The Voice?

Green shares two reasons that he firmly feels are behind him getting hired for The Voice.

“There were mentions that there was interest that I might be a possible candidate. We were in L.A. and I did a show at the Grammy Museum, and we did a Q&A before the show. The personality that Blake [Shelton] had is what they’re looking for.”

He then adds, “I also did a spot on Jimmy Fallon, where I got to visit with him and teach him a duck call. Those two things got me the job.”

Has Filming for The Voice Season 30 Started Yet?

According to Green, it has not.

“We start filming in the next couple months,” he says. “I don’t know what to expect, except I know how the chair works. I haven’t met any of the other coaches yet.”

Green adds that he did get a warm welcome to the crew, though.

Kelly [Clarkson] called me when I got the job. She’s a country fan, and I know she’s covered some of my songs.”

Although the “Worst Way” singer is confident about playing music, he seems a little shy about his new gig.

“I’m not sure about any of it, it’s such a different thing. But I’ve met the team, and I know what they need from me. It’s helpful to watch Blake and Luke Bryan, because now I know how to go about it, and I’m excited about the coaching part of it.”

Famous Singers from The Voice, Then + Now

Ten years (and counting) made a huge difference for many of the most popular singers and stars of The VoiceBlake Shelton looks noticeably different, but so do some of country music’s most memorable performers.
Winners like Cassadee Pope and Danielle Bradbery wore baby faces when they auditioned during their respective seasons. The same can be said for Morgan Wallen, a forgotten castmember from the show who’s transformed more than anyone else on this list of The Voice stars then and now.
