Five killed, 34 injured after bus crashes into six cars in Virginia

Five people were killed and dozens hospitalized after a bus crashed into multiple vehicles in Virginia, authorities said Friday.

The fatal crash occurred around 2:35 a.m. Friday after the bus failed to slow down for a work zone and hit the six vehicles near Quantico, Virginia State Police said in a statement Friday.

At least five people were killed, and 34 were taken to area hospitals, three of whom had critical injuries, police said.

State Police said the preliminary investigation showed that traffic was slowing southbound on Interstate 95 for a work zone when the bus failed to slow down, triggering the fatal crash.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
