Police officers were involved in a shooting Tuesday night in the vicinity of 8th Street and Bellamah Avenue Northwest, an Albuquerque Police Department news release said. This is a developing story. KOAT has a crew headed toward the scene, and when more information is released, we will share it online and on our newscasts tonight.Around 9:50 p.m., APD spokesman Gilbert Gallegos sent a text saying :”The person confronted by police tonight appeared to have been shot and he was declared deceased at the scene. We have not been briefed by detectives and we do not know if he was shot by officers. No officers were seriously injured. However, two officers suffered superficial injuries. They were checked on scene by medical personnel.”The text also said that APD’s staging area, where APD may have more information for us, had been moved.
