Jake Worthington is hitting pause on his music career in order to prioritize his health and family.
The singer shared on Instagram on Friday (May 22) that he’s taking a step back from music. He promised to “come back even better” once he’s spent some time focused on his healing.
Regarding the actual circumstances that forced him to take a break, Worthington didn’t share specifics.
Why Is Jake Worthington Taking a Break From Music?
Worthington alluded to some hard living that was taking a toll on him.
“I live a life as my heroes did, but that life gotten ahold of me. I love my family, my friends and my fans too much to let it take over me,” the singer wrote. “I need to take some time to work on myself for my wife and daughter.”
“I promise I will come back even better,” Worthington concluded. “God bless country music.”
In the comments section of his post, several of Worthington’s fellow country singers supported his decision. Carly Pearce, Dierks Bentley, Tracy Byrd and Joe Nichols were among those who applauded Worthington for putting his health and family first.
Is Jake Worthington Cancelling Any Shows?
Worthington didn’t mention canceling any previously-booked shows in his social media announcement.
His tour calendar shows no concert dates until late July, when he’s scheduled to open a couple of shows for Luke Bryan and kick off his own Intent to Tonk Tour: Repeat Offender.

Jake Worthington is a traditional-leaning country artist who first came on fans’ radar when he placed second on Season 6 of The Voice in 2014.

A Texas native, he is signed to Big Loud Texas, an imprint that Miranda Lambert and Jon Randall founded specifically to spotlight up-and-coming Texas artists. Lambert and Worthington recorded a duet, “Hello S—ty Day,” which he included on his 2025 sophomore album When I Write the Song.
