Kyle Busch was a champion race car driver who most believe will enter the NASCAR Hall of Fame one day. He was also a husband to Samantha and father to Brexton and Lennix.

Busch had been married to wife Samantha since 2010. The couple had two kids in son Brexton (11 years old on Monday) and daughter Lennix (age 4).

The family was often seen at the racetrack, and numerous photos exist of them celebrating with dad after another of his more than 200 wins.

The All-Star Race and this weekend’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway are two of the biggest events on the NASCAR calendar, and also a chance for drivers to spend a few weeks at home if they live nearby (many do).

That’s important today, as Monday (May 18) was Brexton’s 11th birthday. Busch celebrated with an Instagram message that also shined a spotlight on the young racer’s burgeoning career.

“Your mom & I are so proud of who you’re turning out to be,” he wrote. “You’re the best kid on & off the track, you amaze us every day. Keep doing what you’re doing and there is no limit to what you’ll accomplish! Love you buddy!”

Wife Samantha also shared a note to her son.

How Did Kyle Busch Die?

Busch’s official cause of death has not been revealed or even suggested at by family members. His hospitalization on Wednesday came as he was using a racing simulator.

Sources tell the AP that Busch became unresponsive and was quickly taken to a hospital in Charlotte, N.C.

About seven hours passed between news of his hospitalization and his death. The speed of it all has devastated the NASCAR community.
