Jason Aldean‘s new Songs About Us album includes a long-await duet between the singer and his wife Brittany, called “Easier Gone.”
Fans have been clamoring for a collaboration like this one for years — so why’d it take the Aldeans so long to finally sit down and record a duet?
Over the years, I have asked Aldean when and if he would ever record a duet with his wife, who can also sing. He always gave me the same answer: That if the right song came along, they would do it.

Why Did It Take So Long For Jason Aldean to Record a Duet With His Wife?
There were two reasons that Aldean gave me in out interview that kept him cautiously aware of what would happen if he and Brittany released a husband-and-wife duet.

There was the fact that they would be opening the flood gates for fans to criticize Brittany’s singing abilities. Aldean admitted that as a loving husband, it’s hard for him to let his wife be so vulnerable.
There was one more reason why Aldean was hesitant to release a song with Brittany:
“To me, honestly, when husband and wives do songs, it can go one of two ways. It can be really cool or kind of cheesy, honestly.”
Aldean obviously felt that “Easier Gone” was not “kind of cheesy,” and lent itself more to the “really cool” lane of husband-and-wife duets. The song had to pass a high bar to earn its spot on the singer’s new album.
