Jason Aldean‘s new album, Songs About Us, features one incredibly deep and personal track for him and his family titled “Help You Remember.”
Aldean told me on Taste of Country Nights that some reviews he has read about the song pegs it as a love/breakup song, but it’s not — and the actual meaning of the song couldn’t be further from those reviews.
What Is Jason Aldean’s ‘Help You Remember’ About?
Aldean tells me, “It was written about my uncle who passed away of Lewy Body Dementia and my father-in-law who currently has Lewy Body Dementia.”
The country superstar says, “It’s one of those things we wrote that is like a really personal thing, and you hear other people’s stories, whether it be Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s or dementia or things that their family members are going through.”

Aldean recalls, “I started noticing anytime we would play it for somebody that was going through any of that stuff, man, it was like waterworks, tears, it was really hitting a nerve with people.”
Who Wrote Jason Aldean’s ‘Help You Remember’?
Jason Aldean co-wrote “Help You Remember” with Kurt Allison, Tully Kennedy, John Morgan and Lydia Vaughan.
Aldean says of the songwriting session, “We wrote it for kind of a therapeutic thing for me, my family and my wife’s family, and if people out there going through the same thing can relate to it, that’s a cool thing for us.”
What Is Lewy Body Dementia?
According to Alzheimers.gov, Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease where abnormal deposits of a protein called alpha-synuclein, known as “Lewy bodies,” build up in brain cells.
It is a leading cause of dementia, affecting more than a million people in the U.S.

See Inside Jason Aldean’s Spectacular Florida Beach House
Aldean paid $4.1 million for the new 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom, 4,452-square-foot beach house. The spectacular property affords the singer and his family the opportunity to walk out their back door and down a bridge to their own private beach, and the exterior of the villa features a courtyard with iron gates that includes gas lanterns, a swimming pool and a fountain.
The home’s interior includes a downstairs with an open floorplan and oversized windows, chiseled stone floors, a gourmet kitchen, a bedroom and study and a fireplace, with coffered ceilings throughout. The upstairs of the home includes two separate master bedrooms that both overlook the Gulf, as well as two more bedrooms that each have their own attached bathrooms.
The stunning home is also set for whatever weather might blow in from the Gulf. Built in 2005, the house features all-impact windows and doors, as well as Geo-Thermal heating and cooling, cellulose insulation, foam ceiling and floor insulation and more.
