Vintage car show at Veterans Park benefits Honor Flight fund
Jennifer Solis, with fiancee Lorena Betancu and Lorena’s father, Manuel, came with their 1969 Ford Mustang.
Combine a first class vintage car show with raising money to fly veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit memorials built in their honor, and that’s got a lot going for it on a sunny Sunday. This was the 10th annual car show where every dollar goes to the Honor Flight of Northern New Mexico, and what a show it turned out to be, with hundreds of classic cruisers, modern muscle cars, rugged trucks and unusual imports. Jennifer Solis, along with her fiancee Lorena Betancur and Lorena’s father, Manuel, were at the show with their all-original 1969 Ford Mustang, complete with a 6-cylinder 200 cubic-inch engine. “It’s our first car show, and it’s been a great experience so far,” Solis said, ” you know, just meeting good people and appreciating the originality of everything.” The car hadn’t been tricked up all, which was a dream come true for Betancur. “We finally went through hell everywhere looking for old cars, beat-up cars, then finally found the right one,” Betancur said. Solis said her Mom also had a Mustang. “So it really brought back a lot of great memories,” she said.
