OFFICERS RESPONDED TO MULTIPLE CALLS REPORTING GUNFIRE IN THAT AREA, AND WHEN THEY GOT THERE, THEY FOUND MULTIPLE SHELL CASINGS, DAMAGE TO VEHICLES, AND ONE ABANDONED GUN. SHORTLY AFTER THE INITIAL RESPONSE, BOTH MERCYONE DES MOINES AND UNITYPOINT METHODIST REPORTED SEVERAL PEOPLE ARRIVING WITH GUNSHOT WOUNDS. POLICE SAY THEIR INJURIES ARE NOT LIFE THREATENING. WHEN THAT SHOOTING HAPPENED UP AT DRAKE LAST NIGHT, WE’RE VERY FORTUNATE THAT THERE WEREN’T MORE PEOPLE HURT. I MEAN, OBVIOUSLY THE RELAYS ARE IN TOWN. IT WAS A NICE NIGHT. We know there was a lot of gunfire. We’re still trying to piece together the circumstances of what happened.”No charges or arrests have been made at this time.
