Riley Green’s Stagecoach Set Canceled After Emergency Evacuation

Date:

Day 2 of Stagecoach took a chaotic turn on Saturday (April 25) after high winds caused the festival to postpone all festivities and issue an emergency evacuation notice.

Riley Green‘s set was scrapped entirely, along with rock group Journey’s.

Per Rolling Stone, performances by Pitbull and Gavin Adcock were also delayed, and Lainey Wilson‘s headlining performance was pushed back by an hour, after winds died down and concertgoers were able to return to the festival grounds.

Riley Green’s Stagecoach Set Canceled, But Lainey Wilson Saves the Day

Riley Green fans suffered a major disappointment: The evacuation meant that his set was canceled altogether.

But Lainey Wilson did her part to make sure fans got their Green fix. During her headlining set, which was itself forced to start late due to the high winds, she brought out Green and Little Big Town, the latter of whom had performed earlier in the day.

They sang a rendition of Merle Haggard’s “I Think I’ll Just Stay Here and Drink,” but that wasn’t all. After LBT exited, Wilson kept Green onstage with her.

“I know how excited all of you were to see Riley Green tonight, so I think you need to do a song,” she said, according to Billboard. Green then gave an impromptu performance of his hit “I Wish Grandpas Never Died,” with just his acoustic guitar as accompaniment.

Wilson also took a rocky start and made it into an incredible set during her Stagecoach performance, with fiery performances of hits like “Hang Tight Honey,” “Can’t Sit Still” and “Country’s Cool Again.”

Why Were Some Fans Mad After Stagecoach Issued an Emergency Evacuation Notice?

The festival shared a message on all screens saying it was “postponed until further notice,” according to Rolling Stone, and directed fans to exit the grounds.

But a notification that the show would be resuming didn’t come until an hour later, after many had already left the parking lot. Some were on shuttles to their hotels, and returning to the festival grounds was difficult and chaotic.

Some complained on social media about the disorganization and communication woes. “Stagecoach officially jumped the shark tonight. People are p–sed!!!” one X user wrote.

“Fans deserve better! And refunds,” another added.

Stagecoach continues on Sunday (April 26) with a headlining set from Post Malone, plus performances from Hootie & the Blowfish, Brooks & Dunn and many more.
