
A middle school teacher was taken into custody in Las Cruces after an investigation into an alleged inappropriate student relationship.Police said 43-year-old Wyatt Cornelius, who was a Camino Real Middle School teacher and coach, has been charged with criminal sexual contact of a minor and child solicitation. Police investigators learned of the allegations on April 10 and started its investigation, which found Cornelius and a 14-year-old student had several inappropriate online conversations. Police said its investigation found he inappropriately touched the student in class and during sporting events.Those alleged conversations were found to have happened via Snapchat. Cornelius was arrested by the Las Cruces Police Department on Wednesday, April 22. He was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
