Riley Green was doing what he does best on stage in Nashville on Saturday (Apr. 18), keeping the crowd in the palm of his hand as they sang along to every word.
But it was those same words that got the crowd at the Bridgestone Arena fired up when Green got to his song, “Hell of A Way To Go.”
He brought out Drake White to join him on the song, which includes the lyric “Watchin’ Alabama whoop up on Tennessee.” That didn’t go over well with the Vols-loving crowd.
After letting the boos go on for a bit, Green started toying with the crowd by saying “We are not Alabama fans, so y’all can relax about that.”
Flashing his sense of humor, Green then circled back for the punchline: “We’re Auburn fans.”

Being the amazing entertainer that Green is, he knew he could and was successfully taking the crowd on an emotional roller coaster that he knew exactly when to stop.
“I’ve only done this one other time, but I’m gonna do it tonight because y’all are a great crowd,” the singer said.

“If y’all promise not to video it, I’ll change the lyrics one time,” He continued. Then, he sang “Alabama’s getting the hell kicked out of them by Tennessee,” which seemed to win the crowd back.

Thankfully someone in the crowd didn’t listen to Green’s request to keep the phones down. They took video so that all of us who weren’t in attendance can see it for ourselves.
