Actor Mindy Cohn, who is known for her role in the ’80s sitcom The Facts of Life, revealed on Sunday (Apr. 19) that she’s battling cancer for a second time.
She has not revealed the specific type of cancer she’s facing.
Cohn shared the news on social media, along with a photo of herself giving a thumbs up from a hospital bed.

Cohn said that her illness is the reason behind a recent unexplained absence on social media platforms.
“Have been off social media for a while cuz I had to go kick cancer’s a–,” she wrote. “I did so with the extraordinary help of Providence Saint John’s hospital staff, especially my nurses Finja, Patty and Courtney and my hero, the phenomenal oncology surgeon [Dr. Anton Bilchik.]”
Cohn’s post makes it seem like she’s been privately fighting her cancer fight. It also sounds like she’s over the hardest part of the journey.
“Recouping for another couple of weeks and then ready for my next adventure,” she continued in her post. “F–k Cancer!”
Aside from naming the nurses and oncologist who’ve been helping her in that battle, she also shared her gratitude to her family, who have “been my advocates and always on the ready to help me when it’s ‘my turn,'” Cohn writes.
When Was Mindy Cohn First Diagnosed With Cancer?
This latest illness is Cohn’s second bout with the disease.
Per People, Cohn was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and fought a difficult five-year battle before doctors pronounced her cancer-free. She underwent a double mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation as part of her treatment.

“I’ve always been an optimist,” she told People in 2017. “But the cancer metastasized. It kept spreading and coming back. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, and then it would. I was frustrated and enraged. I couldn’t control any of this. I couldn’t fix it.”
She also kept her battle private as she was fighting.
By 2017, though, she was healthy again and returned to Hollywood to keep acting.
