
On April 18, at 3:14 p.m., a Colorado State Patrol trooper was traveling on Highway 172 through the intersection of La Plata County Road 311 in La Plata County, Colorado, when her patrol car was struck on the left-rear side by a blue Dodge sedan that failed to stop at a stop sign.The trooper’s patrol car then collided with a white Dodge truck before traveling off the shoulder of Highway 172. Officers say neither the driver of the blue Dodge sedan nor the driver of the white Dodge truck was injured. Neither vehicle had passengers. The driver of the blue Dodge sedan was identified as a 50-year-old male from Durango, Colorado. He was arrested at the scene for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.The state trooper was transported to an area medical facility by personal vehicle for treatment of minor injuries resulting from the crash. She has since been treated and released. The Colorado State Patrol wants to remind drivers that impaired driving is not tolerated on Colorado roadways.
