There’s little doubt in town that these quick actions from Principal Kirk Moore make him *** hero. That’s him. He has *** heart of gold and he loves those kids. I know that he has God on his side and he didn’t hesitate. He went straight after the problem and took the problem out. But now the question some are asking why was it necessary? It happened. An hour before they let anybody know what was going on, Lynn Sanders has *** middle schooler who goes to Paul’s Valley. She believes while undoubtedly noble, the school didn’t do enough. If there had been an SRO officer at the school in front of the school, he would have never made entrance in the door, I don’t think. Investigators say the student resource officer arrived about *** minute after the shooting. They cover multiple campuses at once. So I think that they need to improve on that *** little bit. I mean, They’re doing the best they can, I know, but some slipped through the cracks. The district has retained an attorney who declined to comment when we asked about safety concerns and whether they’ll add more SROs in the future, and that’s on our plan, I’m sure, because our kids is our main thing is being safe. Tammy Dee is *** substitute teacher at the school, and she says the district is helping in other ways. We still have the therapy. In the schools and that’s really helped them healing together and moving forward. We’re all *** big family here. Everybody’s kids belong to somebody and they all belong to all of us. We’ve had so much response from different schools sending flowers and food and cards from our area. It’s so touching to know that when something happens like this, everybody cares, and that’s important.

Moore was celebrated for tackling a former student and stopping a potential mass shooting at the school. Former students were not surprised by Moore’s response.
