Luke Grimes Reveals How Riley Geen Landed His Role on ‘Marshals’

Date:

Luke Grimes plays Kayce Dutton in the hit CBS show Marshals, and his new co-star Riley Green will be making his acting debut on Sunday (April 19).

During an interview with Taste of Country to talk about the show and his album Red Bird, Grimes shared the details about how his friend landed the role.

“I brought up the idea to my showrunner, and he wrote him a part,” he begins.

However, it wasn’t an easy sell at first.

“Kind of the weird thing about Hollywood is, they don’t tend to know country musicians as well,” he admits. “So, they made him audition!”

Grimes tried to assure them an audition wasn’t needed and convince them just to give Green the part that was already written for him, but there was no changing the show’s mind.

“I auditioned with him,” he says with a smile.

“Somewhere out there, there is an audition tape of me and Riley Green getting him a part in Marshals. Honestly, I think he would have gotten it anyways because he was that good!”

How Did Riley Green and Luke Grimes Meet?

“We met out one night at Losers (bar in Nashville),” he relates. “I would see him there from time to time, and we talked at some point about writing a song and made that happen.”

It would be during the write that Grimes learned of Green’s desire to act. Grimes’ show Marshals was starting to take shape at the time, so knew he could maybe leverage that to get Green a part.

Today, the men are friends both on and off the screen.

What Character Is Riley Green Playing on Marshals?

Riley will be playing a former Navy SEAL teammate of Kayce Dutton. He arrives at the ranch seeking to confront his past.
