A woman has now been arrested after yesterday’s seven-hour standoff in Maxwell. At 10:48 a.m. on April 9, deputies were dispatched to 211 Parque Avenue in Maxwell, New Mexico, after receiving a report of Beatrice Arrellano, 63, allegedly pointing a gun at two village of Maxwell employees who were inside a village vehicle near a residence. Deputies from Colfax County responded to the scene and attempted to make contact with Arellano, who ignored those efforts and barricaded herself inside the residence.Maxwell schools were notified and placed on lockdown while law enforcement established a perimeter. Law enforcement worked closely with school staff to ensure that students were released to their parents in a controlled and safe manner. Arellano was arrested on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Vigil Maldonado Detention Center.
