Country legend Ray Stevens is recovering after breaking his next last week. The 87-year-old comedic singer and songwriter injured himself after a fall in Tennessee.

Stevens’ publicist tells Taste of Country he’s at home recovering and is in good spirits.
What Happened to Ray Stevens?
Stevens was injured in a fall on March 30. Doctors diagnosed him with a broken neck, and he was hospitalized in Nashville.
He’s now at home recovering but needs to wear a neck brace for weeks.
Despite this, his representative says Stevens is “fully mobile and in good spirits.”
In fact, he shared this graphic and message to X on April 1.

Who Is Ray Stevens?
Ray Stevens is a comedic country music singer and songwriter who enjoyed his biggest success in the 1970s and 1980s.
While “Everything Is Beautiful” and “Misty” earned him Grammy attention, novelty songs like “Ahab the Arab,” Gitarzan” and “The Streak” may be how many fans remember him.
His catalog is perhaps as diverse in style and content as any singer before or after him.
The Georgia native is a rare comedic singer taken seriously enough to be inducted into several halls of fame, including the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Christian Music Hall of Fame.
In 2018, Stevens opened CabaRay, a concert venue near Nashville. He announced plans to sell it last in 2025 after several health setbacks, including a heart attack and surgery in July 2025.
