GRIDLINK Streams Re-Recorded Versions Of Their First Two Albums, Remains Broken Up

Date:

Fans of blistering, technical grindcore are in for a rare treat today. Influential grindcore band Gridlink is now streaming Perfect Amber a complete re-recording and remix of their first two groundbreaking albums, Amber Grey and Orphan.

For those unfamiliar, Gridlink formed in the late 2000s as a high-speed, hyper-technical grindcore supergroup, fronted by vocalist Jon Chang (formerly of Discordance Axis) and featuring guitar virtuoso Takafumi Matsubara. Gridlink‘s pushed grindcore to its most intense and precise limits, earning the band a cult following for its chaotic energy, dizzying guitar riffs, and unrelenting blast beats. Over their brief career, Gridlink released a small but ferociously influential catalog before disbanding, leaving fans clamoring for more.

Now, with Perfect Amber, Gridlink has revisited their earliest material with a fresh approach. The new release features all-new bass tracks by Mauro Cordoba, plus new guitar recordings by Takafumi Matsubara and Rory Kobzina. Rather than a simple remaster, this is a fully reimagined and meticulously updated take on their classic recordings, breathing new life into songs that first defined their sound.

However, despite this exciting release, Gridlink remains officially decommissioned. Stream the release in full below and get a copy for yourself either here on Bandcamp or via the Willowtip website.

Perfect Amber, a re-recording and remix of the first two Gridlink albums, will be made available on our BandCamp and the Willowtip Website,” wrote Gridlink upon the announcement of the record.

“Featuring new bass tracks by Mauro Cordoba, and new guitar tracks by Takafumi Matsubara and Rory Kobzina, Perfect Amber is an entirely new take on the first two Gridlink albums Amber Grey and Orphan. Despite this last effort, Gridlink remains decommissioned. Thank you for the years of support.”
