Suspect in To’hajiilee shooting incident faces federal charges

The man accused of shooting two Navajo Nation police officers earlier this month faces federal charges in connection with the incident.According to court records, Russell Secatero made his first appearance in Federal Court on Monday. He has been charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and two counts of discharging a firearm in relation to a crime of violence.Secatero is accused of shooting the officers during a standoff on the 100 block of Sunset Lane in To’hajiilee on March 6. He was also wounded in the incident.Secatero is expected to be back in court on Wednesday for a detention hearing.
