DALTON EADS WAS 14 YEARS OLD WHEN HE DIED BACK IN 2025. HIS PARENTS DECIDED TO DONATE HIS ORGANS, BOTH OF HIS KIDNEYS, HIS LIVER AND HIS LEFT LUNG ACTUALLY SAVED THE LIVES OF FOUR PEOPLE. SO HOW ABOUT THIS LUKE GINGRICH FROM CINCINNATI GOT ONE OF THE KIDNEYS. HIS FAMILY GOT TO MEET EADS FOR THE FIRST TIME OVER THE WEEKEND. LUKE’S DAD SAYS THEY ARE JUST SO GRATEFUL THEIR SON GOT A SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE. A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT STEPPED UP TO TRY TO DO ANYTHING FOR LUKE, AND UNFORTUNATELY, NO ONE COULD REALLY GET THROUGH THE TESTING PROCESS UNTIL DALTON’S KIDNEY CAME ALONG WITH THE PHONE CALL ON THE NIGHT THAT MY WIFE’S BIRTHDAY, ACTUALLY. LUKE IS NOW THREE YEARS OLD, BUSY GETTING READY FOR PRESCHOOL AND PLAYING WITH BROTHERS AND SISTERS. Family of 3-year-old boy saved by organ donation meets donor’s family
Two families with a special connection met for the first time at a Pacers game in Indianapolis, united by the organ donation that saved lives. Dalton Eades was 14 when he died in 2025, and his parents decided to donate his organs, including both kidneys, his liver and his left lung, saving the lives of four people. Luke Gingras from Cincinnati received one of the kidneys, and his family met Eades’ family for the first time this weekend.Luke’s father, Matt Gingras, expressed gratitude for the life-saving gift. “We had a lot of people that stepped up and tried to donate to Luke, and unfortunately, no one could really get through the testing process until Dalton’s kidney came along. We got the phone call on the night of my wife’s birthday,” he said.Luke is now 3 years old, busy getting ready for preschool and playing with his siblings.The families also had the opportunity to meet members of the Pacemates dance team and the team’s mascot.
