After nearly a decade of silence on the studio front, Norwegian avant-garde metal pioneers Arcturus have officially completed their first new album since 2015’s Arcturian.
Taking to social media, the band shared: “Great news, yesterday we delivered the master tapes for the new album to @prophecypro. It’s been a long journey to make this unique product of art. Soon we can share it to all of you.”
The record will arrive via Prophecy Productions, marking the band’s first full-length release in over ten years and their first major statement since reactivating in the 2010s.
Arcturus – long regarded as one of Norway’s most forward-thinking extreme metal exports º currently features drummer Hellhammer (Mayhem), keyboardist and founding member Sverd (The Kovenant, ex-Ulver), bassist Skoll (Ved Buens Ende, ex-Ulver), guitarist Knut Magne Valle (ex-Ulver), and vocalist ICS Vortex (Borknagar, ex-Dimmu Borgir).
While details about the upcoming release remain under wraps, the band’s promise of a “unique product of art” suggests Arcturus are once again aiming beyond genre confines.
