Users report YouTube outage, according to Downdetector

Date:

Did you get this text from Verizon about *** $20 credit? This one is real. Here’s what’s going on. So after an outage knocked out service for customers nationwide, Verizon now says it’s going to give *** $20 account credit to affected customers. They’re specifically going to tell you via text when that credit is available. So that’s why so many of you are getting this text message right now. Now that said, we know scammers love to send out phishing texts, so I understand how getting *** text message like this could probably ring some alarm bells for people. It did for *** few of my colleagues. *** lot of us, myself included, are hesitant to click on *** link in *** text message that came from *** random number. Now one way that I can immediately tell this is real is this link down here, vz. Dot com is *** real link that redirects to Verizon.com, which is Verizon’s legitimate website. Realistically, you don’t need to click the link to claim the credit anyway. So when you get this text message, just close out of it. You can go to verizon.com and claim the credit in your account that way. Alternatively, you could use the My Verizon app to claim the credit. It’s going to look something like this inside the app when you go to redeem it. By the way, make sure you do go claim that credit. Verizon told me they’re not going to just automatically add this to everyone’s bill. You have to be the one to go in and claim the credit to get the $20. So be sure you do that once you get the text message saying it’s available to you.
