
Investigators in Arizona have confirmed that a person has been detained for questioning in connection with the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie. In a post on Tuesday night on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said that deputies detained a person during a traffic stop south of Tucson. “Earlier today, Pima County Sheriff’s Department deputies detained a subject during a traffic stop south of Tucson,” Sheriff Chris Nanos said in the statement. “The subject is currently being questioned in connection to the Nancy Guthrie investigation.”As of 11:25 p.m. ET Tuesday, multiple news outlets, including CNN, NBC News and ABC News, were reporting that the sheriff’s department confirmed that deputies, with assistance from the FBI Evidence Response Team, were conducting a court-authorized search at an undisclosed location in Rio Rico, Arizona. According to the reports, the sheriff’s office said the search is connected to the Guthrie investigation, and that the search was expected to take several hours.
