Timothy Busfield accused of child sex crimes, will remain in jail

Actor and Director Timothy Busfield has been accused of inappropriately touching two child actors on the set of “The Cleaning Lady” in Albuquerque, resulting in an arrest warrant and his detention at the Metro Detention Center.A criminal complaint alleges that Busfield inappropriately touched the children while directing the series from 2022 to 2024. The investigation began when a University of New Mexico Hospital doctor contacted the Albuquerque Police Department about a case of sexual abuse.The complaint states that officers interviewed the children, who responded to questions about inappropriate touching by asking, “You mean like Uncle Tim?” It also mentions that Busfield instructed the children to call him by that name and describes the alleged touching as including genital areas and tickling.The parents reported that the alleged abuse occurred from November 2022 to the spring of 2024. In February 2025, Warner Brothers conducted an independent investigation after receiving an anonymous tip through the SAG-AFTRA hotline, the union representing actors.In Nov. 2025, police contacted Busfield, who reportedly told them it was “highly likely” he would tickle the kids, describing the set as a “playful environment.” The complaint also notes that Busfield had a relationship with the family outside of work.Several crew members were interviewed by police. One employee told police that “everyone knew to avoid Timothy because he was creepy.”Last week, the Albuquerque Police Department issued an arrest warrant for Busfield. In a video statement to TMZ, Busfield said he drove 2,000 miles to turn himself in, denying the claims minutes before his arrest.”I did not do anything to those little boys,” Busfield said. “I’m going to fight it. I’m going to fight it with a great team, and I’m going to be exonerated.”
