Six months ago, a striped mud turtle with a broken shell was found on the Gulf Coast of Florida, and thanks to a quick-thinking neighbor, the turtle is on its way to being healthy again.The neighbor who found the turtle taped its shell back together but soon realized it needed expert care, leading them to take it to the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW).Thanks to ongoing treatment at CROW, the fractured shell has healed, and the turtle’s condition has improved. CROW said they hope the turtle will be ready for release back into the wild soon.CROW adds that the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission prohibits the possession of these turtles or their removal from the wild.
