WINDHAND Is Working On Their First Record Since 2018

Date:

Windhand are officially working on their first new album in nearly a decade, which is great – packing bowls to the first four records is fine, but having a fifth in the mix would be lovely.

The Richmond, VA doom outfit shared the update via social media, thanking fans for their continued support and confirming that new material is actively in the works. Windhand wrote: “Thanks again to everyone who came out to see us play this past year and all the bands we played with! We’re busy writing the new album and can’t wait to have it ready for everyone to hear!”

The forthcoming record will mark Windhand‘s first full-length since 2018’s Eternal Return, ending a lengthy studio silence for one of modern doom’s most influential bands. While no release date or further details have yet been revealed, the confirmation alone is welcome news for fans who’ve been patiently waiting for new material.

Anyway, go listen to “Orchard” at full volume. It’s got one of the filthiest guitar tones I’ve ever heard in my life, and still holds up beautifully to this day.
