In a new interview with Finland’s Chaoszine, former Battle Beast frontwoman Noora Louhimo opened up about her decision to leave the band after 13 years, calling it a long and deeply personal process rather than a sudden choice.
Louhimo was officially replaced earlier this year by Marina La Torraca, the Brazilian powerhouse vocalist known for her work with Phantom Elite and Exit Eden. Asked how long she had been contemplating her departure from Battle Beast, Louhimo explained that a series of life-altering events forced her to reassess her priorities.
“For me it has been kind of a long process. Nothing happens in an instant,” Louhimo said. “So many things happened in my life — health-wise… I had the artery rupture, and a year before that I was in a car accident.”
Those experiences, she said, fundamentally changed how she views her time, energy, and creative goals” These kinds of situations really make me prioritize what I want in my life… what things I want to do and what I want to achieve.”
Louhimo went on to explain that Battle Beast‘s relentless schedule made it impossible for her to explore other creative outlets: “In Battle Beast, it is very demanding schedules. You’re either making an album, preparing an album, or touring. There is no time for a solo career or whatever you want to do extra.”
As an artist, that limitation eventually became too much: “I’m an artist and I need to do different things to express myself to feel fulfilled. And that became too big of an issue for me.”
Battle Beast announced Louhimo‘s departure earlier this year, confirming that she joined the band in 2012 and appeared on six studio albums.
The band said in a statement: “After six albums and 13 incredible years together, we announce that Noora Louhimo is leaving Battle Beast to focus on her solo career. While we are saddened by her departure, we fully support her decision.”
Louhimo echoed that sentiment, emphasizing gratitude rather than conflict: “For 13 years I got to grow, learn, develop and explore who I am as a musician and as a person. Life is full of different eras and now it is time for a new one. This is not the end — this is the beginning of a new adventure.”
Battle Beast promised fans the wait for a new vocalist would be brief—and they delivered. The band soon announced Marina La Torraca as their new frontwoman.
La Torraca shared her excitement (and nerves) about stepping into the role: “Is it a little terrifying to follow in the wake of a vocal legend like Noora? You bet! Is it also very exciting? Absolutely.”
She added: “Battle Beast is one of the hardest-working and most genuinely talented bands out there, and I’m proud to be here to help them keep growing and spreading joy.”
Battle Beast‘s first live shows with La Torraca will take place in March 2026, when the band tours Japan and Australia.
