STOMACH EARTH (THE RED CHORD) Releases First New Material In 12 Years

Date:

Stomach Earth – the one man death-doom band formed by The Red Chord guitarist Mike McKenzie in 2001 under the name Nyarlathotep – is back after 12 years with some new material!

Stomach Earth originally released its self-titled debut album in 2013, and is now back with a rarities EP called Vestige I. The EP features a song that didn’t make it onto the debut Stomach Earth record, as well as reimaginings of two other bands McKenzie is in – Wear Your Wounds and Umbra Vitae. Get Vestige I here.

On Vestige I, McKenzie said: “Vestige I is a small collection of pieces from various places. ‘Immeasurable Force’ was originally one of the many demos written for the self-titled LP, released in 2013. It was cut from the final track list before any lyrics were written for it.

“‘Gates Give Way (SE x WYW)’ and ‘Descend (SE x UV)’ were both recorded at collaboration tracks with Wear Your Wounds and Umbra Vitae, respectively. Both slightly different approaches to chord progressions and ideas than their original counterparts.”
