Date:

A 27-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly admitting to sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl at a Christmas party in Albuquerque, while he was already awaiting trial for previous sex-related charges.According to court documents, Mattheu Tracy-Thompson attended a Christmas party at a neighbor’s house near Paseo del Norte and Wyoming, where a woman, her husband, and their two children were also present. The documents state that the woman’s daughter went to use the restroom upstairs, where Tracy-Thompson allegedly followed and assaulted her. The girl’s mother found blood on the bathroom floor, and the child was taken to a nearby hospital.Tracy-Thompson called 911 on himself from across the street shortly after, threatening to kill himself and admitting to dispatchers that he “touched a girl inappropriately at a party.”In October 2024, Tracy-Thompson was arrested for possession and distribution of visual media relating to child sexual abuse. The attorney general’s office took over the case and filed a motion for pre-trial detention, which was denied, allowing Tracy-Thompson to be released on his own recognizance with a trial currently scheduled for April 2026.Attorney General Raul Torrez commented on the situation, telling KOAT, “It’s shameful. And it’s tragic, and it was unnecessary. Frankly, it is a function of the unwillingness of policymakers in Santa Fe to just do the obvious thing and recognize that the system isn’t working, and there’s a way to fix it.”Tracy-Thompson is set to have his first appearance for these new charges Tuesday morning. The attorney general’s office will also be handling this new case against Tracy-Thompson.
