GOOD MORNING ALYSSA. GOOD MORNING. YOU KNOW, KIDS MAY BE LOOKING FORWARD TO BEING OUT FOR THE HOLIDAYS, BUT FOR WORKING PARENTS, THEY STILL NEED SOMEONE TO WATCH THEIR KIDS. NOW THE CITY IS OFFERING A TWO WEEK PROGRAM AT COMMUNITY CENTERS ACROSS THE METRO, LIKE MCKINLEY COMMUNITY CENTER RIGHT HERE TO GIVE KIDS AND TEENS A SAFE PLACE TO BE. NOW, CITY OFFICIALS SAY THE PROGRAM IS OPEN TO KINDERGARTEN THROUGH EIGHTH GRADE. TEEN PASSES FOR 12 TO 17 YEAR OLDS ARE ALSO AVAILABLE. NOW, THE PROGRAM HAS A FEE OF $10 PER CHILD AND RUNS FROM DECEMBER 22ND THROUGH JANUARY 5TH. IT IS CLOSED ON CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR’S DAY. NOW EDGAR AVILA, THE COMMUNICATION RECREATION CENTER SUPERVISOR, SAYS THEY WILL BE OFFERING ALL DAY ACTIVITIES, OFF SITE FIELD TRIPS, FREE COMPUTER LABS, GAME ROOMS AND SOME HOLIDAY FUN. EACH HOUR THEY GET TO MOVE INTO A DIFFERENT ROOM, EXPERIENCE SOMETHING DIFFERENT, ANOTHER ACTIVITY. SO FOR EXAMPLE, HERE AT OUR CENTER, WE HAVE A GAME ROOM THAT THEY GET TO PLAY WITH POOL, FOOSBALL, AIR HOCKEY. THEN THEY’LL MOVE OVER TO OUR ARTS AND CRAFTS ROOM. Albuquerque offers $10 youth winter break program with all‑day activities and free lunch
Registration for Albuquerque’s youth winter break program opens this morning, providing a safe and engaging environment for children and teens during the holiday season.The program, held at community centers across the city, is open to kids in kindergarten through eighth grade, with teen passes available for those aged 12 to 17.City officials said the program has a fee of $10 per child and runs from Dec. 22 through Jan. 5, excluding Christmas and New Year’s Day.Edgar Avila, the communication recreation center supervisor, said they will offer all-day activities, off-site field trips, free computer labs, game rooms, and holiday-themed fun.”Each hour they get to move into a different room experience, something different, another activity,” Avila said. “So, for example, here at our center, we have a game room that they get to play with pool, foosball, air hockey. Then they’ll move over to our arts and crafts room. We have a beautiful playground, so they’ll go outside and enjoy some fresh air.”Avila said there will be free lunch every day and some snacks. Registration will be open this morning at eight.
