Ruth Deserved His $80,000 – WSJ

Date:

I have no issue with Doug McMillon receiving eight figures (“

Why CEOs Get Paid So Much,” Review & Outlook, Nov. 17). It reminds of when Babe Ruth signed a contract in 1930 for $80,000, a few thousand more than President Herbert Hoover’s salary. When asked if he deserved it, Ruth replied: “Why not? I had a better year than he did.”
