Italian Bank Intesa Sanpaolo’s Profit Dips as Income Softens

Intesa Sanpaolo ISP -1.98%decrease; red down pointing triangle said its profit for the third quarter slipped as lower interest rates ate into its top line.

Italy’s largest bank by assets on Friday reported that it made 2.37 billion euros ($2.74 billion) in net profit for the three months ended Sept. 30, slightly down from 2.40 billion euros a year prior. The result was a touch ahead analysts’ estimates taken from a Visible Alpha poll, which had forecast a 2.34 billion euro figure.
