Part of Edith Boulevard to close for road, utility improvements

Date:

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Bernalillo County will close a portion of Edith Boulevard for almost one month to complete roadway and utility improvements.

From Oct. 13 to Nov. 17, Edith Boulevard between Osuna Road and Los Ranchos Road, in front of the Sandia Ranch area, will be closed for improvements associated with the Albuquerque Sign Language Academy, Fire Station 36, and the Sandia Ranch development.

The county said the project will improve roadway access and utilities along Edith Boulevard near Sandia Ranch, which will soon become home to a new park, the Bernalillo County Cooperative Extension Office, and facilities for 4-H and Master Gardeners.

The following detours will be in place during the work:

  • Drivers traveling north on Edith will be detoured west on Osuna Road NE, then north on Second Street NW, and east on Los Ranchos Road NW to reconnect with Edith.
  • Drivers traveling south on Edith will be detoured west on Los Ranchos Road NW, then south on Second Street NW, and east on Osuna Road NE back to Edith.

After Nov. 17, one lane of traffic will reopen with flaggers directing vehicles through the construction zone. Substantial completion of the project is expected by Dec. 18, with additional landscaping along the Sandia Ranch frontage to follow, the county said.

Drivers are asked to seek alternative routes.
