A warning period is underway for newly installed speed cameras in the East Mountains.

The cameras are on State Highway 14 at Frost Road. Additional cameras on NM-333 are expected to begin issuing warning notices later this month.

During this time, drivers who exceed the posted speed limit may receive warning notices but will not be fined. Once the grace period ends, violations captured by the automated enforcement system may result in citations.

The new cameras are intended to increase driver awareness, encourage safer driving behaviors, and help reduce the risk of serious and fatal crashes on Bernalillo County roadways.

Starting Nov. 10, those fines will take effect.
