Republican State Rep. Andrea Reeb resigned on Thursday after the federal court of New Mexico determined she violated New Mexico law.
“I am writing to formally resign my position as member of the New Mexico House of Representatives, effective October 15, 2026,” Reeb, who represents District 64, wrote in a letter to the secretary of state.

On Wednesday, the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico concluded that Reeb’s service as a state legislator and special assistant district attorney violated the separation-of-powers provision in the New Mexico Constitution, the letter said.
Reeb served as special prosecutor in the “Rust” shooting case involving Alec Baldwin in 2023. She was elected after she’d already been assigned to the case. She stepped down from the “Rust” case in March 2023 after Baldwin’s lawyers moved to remove her.
Reeb, who was also a member of the House commission investigating Jeffrey Epstein ties in the state, said she was “disappointed by the Court’s conclusion” but concluded that “resignation is the appropriate course.”
