Scottie Scheffler is the FedEx Cup champion for the second time in three years, and after claiming the 2026 Tour Championship, two of his three wins this season came in the FedEx Cup Playoffs, when purses are among the largest of the season. Scheffler brought home a massive $10 million first-place prize on Sunday, adding to a career earnings total that has now surpassed Tiger Woods.
The world No. 1 entered the playoffs having registered just one victory this season. Winning the St. Jude Championship and Tour Championship in a three-week span, the $13.6 million in total on-course earnings moves him to No. 1 on the PGA Tour’s all-time money list. Scheffler has now won more than $130 million in his playing career.
Viktor Hovland began Sunday with the lead, but he could not maintain his excellence off the tee or on the greens and saw Scheffler surge past him. Even so, Hovland will take home a paycheck larger than those dolled out to winners of signature events — $5 million for finishing runner-up after claiming $3.6 million earlier this year for winning the Travelers Championship.
Ryan Gerard also came up just short on a rough Sunday, but he is taking home the biggest payout of his career with just over $3.7 million for his efforts. Aside from Scheffler jumping into first, no one made more money on Sunday than Alex Fitzpatrick. His 4-under 66 moved him 12 spots up the leaderboard from 16th (paying $505,000) to T4, which will bank more than $1.7 million.
