University of New Mexico creates its first-ever custom hot air balloon

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The University of New Mexico is gearing up for Balloon Fiesta with the launch of its first-ever custom balloons. The balloon design, called “Cherry on Top,” is a collaboration between the University of New Mexico’s marketing department, Rainbow Ryders and Illinois manufacturer Lindstrand Balloons.

The university said the balloons will be available throughout Carnival and Homecoming week. The public can get a glimpse of the inflated balloons at Johnson Field starting at 7 a.m. Monday. Free tethered balloon rides and food will be provided to UNM students during the event.
