Carly Pearce Debuts ‘Country Music Made Me Do It’ at PCCAs

Carly Pearce took the opportunity to perform a brand new song in between performances at the inaugural People’s Choice Country Music Awards on Thursday night (September 28).

Pierce’s love letter to country music—and all of her life experiences with country music—fit perfectly for a hallowed stage like the Grand Ole Opry, giving Pierce the opportunity to highlight the traditional strings and tones of her songs.

She also combined these sonic elements with traditional visuals: the Opry set was decorated like an old barn, with backing musicians performing on pallets. Pierce entered from the front, wearing thigh-high boots and a sparkling black and pink floral outfit, singing into an equally dazzling microphone.

In addition to her acting, Pierce has been nominated for several awards. She was included in the “Female Artist” category and her song “We Don’t Fight Anymore” with Chris Stapleton was shortlisted for the 2023 Collaboration Song.

“Country Music Made Me Do It” is one of the tracks to be released ahead of Pierce’s next project, which has yet to be titled. She also released “We Don’t Fight Anymore” from the album, a duet with Chris Stapleton.

The Kentucky native’s song selection Thursday night is also named after her upcoming country music Let Me Do It tour. The six-week tour will launch in New York City on October 5 and end in Detroit on November 18. Adam Doleac will perform nine of the 12 shows, with Hannah Ellis filling in for the remaining dates.
