Pulisic’s goal was his third since joining Milan from Chelsea this summer and his first in more than a month.

The pressure on Milan was mounting and the home team finally broke through on the hour mark. Tijjani Reijnders passed the ball to Rafael Leão, who crossed to Pulisic, who fired a half-volley with the inside of his left foot.

When Pulisic was finally subbed off, the San Siro fans gave another standing ovation.

Fellow American Yunus Moussa almost doubled Milan’s lead in the 73rd minute, but he was denied by a fine save from Ivan Provedel.

The Lazio goalkeeper produced an equally impressive save at the end of the first half to prevent Olivier Giroud from celebrating his 37th birthday. Reynders hit the rebound into the post with his heel.

Okafor sealed the game with a simple shot two minutes from time after Leo’s stellar performance.

Lazio thought they had grabbed a late consolation goal when Pedro curled a lovely strike into the top corner but it was ruled out for offside earlier.

Reuters and The Associated Press contributed to this report.
