Man accused in Albuquerque gas station shooting will be released from custody

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Jorge Jimenez Campos, accused of shooting two people at an Albuquerque gas station in 2022, will be released from custody. Campos allegedly shot a man in the head and shot the man’s friend at a Speedway gas station near Center and Coors in July 2022. Police said Campos believed the two men nearly hit him with their car in the downtown area. a few days ago.

One issue facing prosecutors in the case is the several aliases Campos appears to have used. This week, he was even booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center under the name Oscar Esquivel. “I was just curious because of the different names. I noticed there was no Social Security number anywhere, which also makes it impossible to know if it is the same person when using different “aliases,”” Judge Emeterio Rudolph Rudolfo said.

While Judge Rudolph agreed that Campos could pose a danger to the public if released, he still denied the state’s motion to keep Campos in jail.
