Familia McCain abrirá biblioteca con su nombre en ASU

The McCain Library will be a multi-purpose facility that will provide the people of Arizona with a place to learn, research, develop and work.

PHOENIX — Sen. John McCain’s legacy will forever be tied to Arizona. This legacy will continue to be respected in the future.

The McCain family announced Thursday the establishment of the John S. McCain III Library in honor of the late senator.

The library will be located at ASU and is created with investments from President Biden’s administration, former Gov. Doug Ducey and Gov. Katie Hobbs, the state of Arizona and ASU.

“I am honored that President Joe Biden came to Tempe, Arizona today to announce his administration’s support for this library,” Cindy McCain said in a statement. “President Joe Biden is A long-time friend, a tough political opponent, and a strong leader. My husband, John, is all of those things, too.”

The McCain Library will be a multi-purpose facility that will provide the people of Arizona with a place to learn, research, develop and work.

Arizona State University owns 22.5 acres on the Tempe campus designated for the John S. McCain III Library near Papago Park, according to McCain family officials. From this area, visitors can overlook the Salt River, Tempe Town Lake, and Arizona State University’s Tempe campus.

“Our family is honored to be part of this special effort to build a lasting tribute to my husband, and we believe this library will serve the state of Arizona and its people just as John served his country. This The effort began with the enthusiastic support of Governor Doug Ducey and has received equally strong support from Governor Katie Hobbs. We greatly appreciate the true bipartisanship,” said Cindy McCain.

McCain’s son Jack also commented on the upcoming library.

“We look forward to continuing the McCain family’s strong partnership with ASU and its world-class students, faculty and leaders to serve all Arizona communities,” he said.

“There is no better partner in this effort than Dr. Michael Crow, who has pioneered many initiatives in underserved communities by breaking down barriers to and promoting connections to educational opportunities for people of all ages. educational programs.”
