Fire restrictions set for Bandelier National Monument

Fire restrictions set for Bandelier National Monument

The restrictions go into effect on Thursday and prohibit the use of campfires and some grills

The Bandelier National Monument will enter new fire restrictions. The new order will go into place Thursday, July 27.The new restrictions are classified as stage II and include these fire-use restrictions:Banning the use of campfires and charcoal grills; gas-powered grills can continue to be used as before.Welding and other open flame torches are banned.Outdoor smoking is banned except for inside vehicles and designated smoking areas.The restrictions go into effect at 8 a.m. on Thursday. The restrictions are in place to assist land management agencies in reducing the risk of fires and preventing wildfires.
