17 Country Stars With the Most ACM Nominations and Zero Wins

You’ll find seven members of the Country Music Hall of Fame on this list of artists who have never won an ACM Award. At least one from that group belongs on country music’s Mount Rushmore.

In some cases, there are explanations for this lifetime of shunning. The ACM Awards were originally designed to honor artists on the west coast and thus voters didn’t always favor midwest-raised, Nashville-based legends.

More recently, country duos fought for a single award that perennially went to Brooks & Dunn. That explains why the three duos on this list are a combined 0-40.

Then there are the head-scratchers. That group includes a solo artist who went 0-19 from 1990 to 2001. Was it bad luck? Did this singer upset voters?

A few of the artists listed below were honored but never won for proprietary work. For example, the Cliffie Stone Award is the current legacy award presented to legends who’ve made an impact. It’s not decided in the same way as standard categories however, so we dismissed it for the purposes of this list.

Additionally, we didn’t include wins for an artist’s side project. The Highwaymen won ACM Awards, but neither Johnny Cash nor Waylon Jennings won for solo material, so they’re still found here.

Data was pulled from the ACM Awards repository of past winners. This list is not exhaustive, meaning not every artist with multiple loses and zero wins is included. Instead, the focus is on legends and artists with a surprising streak.
